Chris Micklewright grew up moving around the country as the oldest child in a military family, but involvement in Christian community and the love of Jesus Christ were constants of his early life. After attending Eastern University, Chris and his wife were married and joined the Church of the Good Samaritan, where they fell in love with the Episcopal liturgy and tradition. Over 14 years at Good Sam, Chris served as a youth leader, confirmation teacher, vestry member, and small group leader. Chris and Heather have been blessed with three beautiful sons, Corin (11), Elias (9), and Desmond (6). In down time, Chris enjoys reading, hiking and biking, home-improvement projects, and playing board games with family and friends. The Micklewright family also took an epic road trip in the summer of 2022, visiting more than 15 national park sites between Virginia and Montana.
Professionally, Chris holds a PhD in mathematics from Bryn Mawr College, and he taught at DeSales University, Eastern University, and Penn State before being called to ordained ministry (though he is still deeply interested in the connections between mathematical philosophy and Christian theology). He loves to talk about theology and how it relates to our ordinary lives, and he particularly values the Episcopal Church’s embrace of love and mystery and beauty. Chris recently graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary, where he was blessed by serving as a seminarian at St. James' Episcopal Church at Mt. Vernon. The whole Micklewright family is excited to return to the Diocese of Pennsylvania and join the Gloria Dei family.
